Bozeman-area records require a second choice between District Court and Justice Court. The county public-record directory separates those court systems rather than presenting one criminal-record database.
Warsaw is served by the Gallatin Circuit Court Clerk. Kentucky uses county Circuit Court Clerks as the starting point for copies from Circuit and District cases.
The Illinois Courts directory places Gallatin County Courthouse in Shawneetown, Second Judicial Circuit. Use that official clerk/courthouse contact instead of sending an Illinois request to Montana or Kentucky.
| Montana record clue | Use this office | Practical result |
|---|---|---|
| Felony or District Court case | Gallatin Clerk of District Court | Search the District Court public portal by name or case number; the Register of Action is available for covered cases from 2012 forward, then request needed documents from the clerk. |
| Justice Court misdemeanor or limited-jurisdiction matter | Gallatin Justice Court | Use the Justice Court request process or its free front-counter public computer; this collection has its own coverage and fees. |
| Law-enforcement report rather than a court filing | Gallatin County Public Records directory | Route the request to the law-enforcement records holder; a police or sheriff report is not the court docket. |
Justice Court records instructions publish a $25 records-request fee, while requests for a person’s own records and specified military/government requests are listed as no-fee categories. The counter has a free public computer for Justice Court record searches, and in-person copies are listed at $0.25 per page.
The same page says case information will not be provided for actions filed in that court before 1994. That cutoff is material: if a matter is older, the correct next question is whether another retained source exists, not whether the person “has no record.”
Use a Warsaw address, Kentucky case citation, court name or other case paper to remove the same-name-county ambiguity.
Kentucky Court of Justice identifies the Gallatin Circuit Court Clerk as the county record-request starting point for Circuit and District cases.
Kentucky warns that a file can remain with the clerk, be stored at a records facility, or have been destroyed under the authorized retention schedule.
Give the case number and party name when possible, and ask for the judgment, order, docket item or certified copy that resolves the question instead of asking generically for “criminal records.”
Illinois Courts lists Gallatin County Courthouse at 484 Lincoln Blvd. E., Shawneetown, in the Second Judicial Circuit and provides the courthouse/clerk contact route. The directory confirms the jurisdiction; the clerk can then tell you what case index, copy method, restriction or local system applies to the specific criminal record you seek.
Do not search a person until Montana, Kentucky or Illinois is established from an address, citation, court name or incident location.
For Montana, distinguish District Court from Justice Court; in Kentucky identify Circuit versus District; in Illinois identify the Gallatin circuit-court file.
Use the case number first. Add full name, date range and offense/citation details when the number is unknown.
Say whether you need an index result, ordinary copy, certified disposition or another filed document.
Check date coverage, retention, sealed/confidential status and whether the request belongs to a law-enforcement agency before interpreting a missing result.
